Welcome and thank you for visiting Information Leak, but what is Information Leak?

Our history is not very important or interesting. Halla started Information Leak in January of 2004 as a Yahoo! Group. I became a moderator on the group a short time later and for a few months we provided our work to a small inner-clique of "newbies" with an uncanny interest in learning. Then it was sometime around May or June that talk of a web site began to surface. At first not much was being done to make the move, but after some pushing from Halla the forum was released in early July, followed the very next week by the site. Most of the old group members did not follow us to the site, but from there we developed a new member base from the jinx forums and we are still growing from there.

Well, that's the history lesson, now on to who we really are. Information Leak is a proclamation of an old philosophy that we have refused to let go. Both Halla and I started up reading old tutorials from the long-passed BBS days. LOD/H, cDc, etc. This is an ideal that we have to this day not let go. Freedom of information. That means the availability of such information and the freedom for anyone interested to freely read and learn from the work of others. In todays world this would be considered lame. A pipe dream propagated by some hollywood figmentation of what a hacker is. Bah! Who cares what you think?!

You will never hear about Information Leak forming into a security firm in order to bring "security awareness" to the masses with a price tag. This is not our cause. We are doing what we do for the love of it. You will not see us bitching about "stupid n00bs" and how they should just leave us alone and go get a life. This is not our torch to carry. We are more than happy to teach, and welcome anyone willing to learn. This site I believe successfully encompasses that ideal. An open community of information for visitors to both teach and learn.
